Best Places for a Warrior to Train from Level 1–30 in MapleStory Classic World
Warriors fight up close, so you want monsters at or a little below your level. Perion makes that easy: the Rocky Mountains on both sides of town get tougher one map at a time. This guide covers the best places for a Warrior to train in MapleStory Classic World, from Maple Island at level 1 to your 2nd job test at level 30.
Level 1–10: Maple Island
Every character starts as a Beginner on Maple Island and moves on to Victoria Island later (Nexon’s Grand Launch Release Notes). Beginners have no job skills, so level on these monsters. The Maple Island guide lists every quest on the island:
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Snail | 1 | 45 | 2 | Snail Hunting Ground I, Snail Hunting Ground II, Snail Hunting Ground III |
| Blue Snail | 2 | 51 | 4 | Snail Hunting Ground III, Snail Garden, Hunting Ground Middle of the Forest II |
| Shroom | 3 | 62 | 6 | A Split Road, Mushroom Garden, In a Small Forest |
| Red Snail | 4 | 68 | 8 | The Field West of Amherst, Snail Field of Flowers |
| Orange Mushroom | 8 | 142 | 15 | Dangerous Forest, The Field East of Amherst |
Head out past the East Entrance to Mushroom Town, clear the Snail Hunting Grounds, and pick up quests on A Split Road:
- Mai gives Mai’s Training (level 3, after Sam’s Suggestion), which asks for 10 Blue Snails, 10 Shrooms and 5 Red Snails and pays 80 EXP. The follow-up, Mai’s Final Training, is a single Orange Mushroom for 120 EXP and 150 mesos.
- Rain in Amherst runs Rain’s Maple Quiz from level 5. The seven quizzes pay 40 EXP for the first and 10 more for each one after it, up to 100.
Orange Mushrooms (Level 8) are the strongest monster on the island, so finish your last levels on Dangerous Forest, then talk to Shanks in Southperry to sail for Victoria Island.
Olaf’s training in Lith Harbor
Olaf in Lith Harbor gives two quests from level 8. Olaf’s First Training asks for 8 Stumps and 8 Slimes (124 EXP, 277 mesos, 8 Red Potions and 8 Blue Potions), and Olaf’s Second Training asks for 8 Pigs and 8 Orange Mushrooms (124 EXP, 277 mesos and 3 Return Scrolls).
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stump | 5 | 133 | 10 | Thicket Around the Beach I, Thicket Around the Beach III |
| Slime | 6 | 115 | 12 | Right Around Lith Harbor, Thicket Around the Beach I |
| Pig | 7 | 128 | 13 | Thicket Around the Beach II |
| Orange Mushroom | 8 | 142 | 15 | Thicket Around the Beach II, Thicket Around the Beach III |
1st job advancement at level 10
Warriors advance with Dances with Balrog in the Warriors’ Sanctuary in Perion (“Do you want to become a warrior?”). Nexon lists him as the level 10 Warrior advancer (Grand Launch Release Notes). Perion is a long way from the harbor, so check the Lith Harbor to Perion route before you set off.
Best places for a Warrior to train: level 10–15
You can start training one map out of Perion. Both exits lead to Stumps and Dark Stumps.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stump | 5 | 133 | 10 | West Rocky Mountain I, Perion Street Corner |
| Dark Stump | 11 | 236 | 21 | West Street Corner of Perion, Perion Street Corner, East Rocky Mountain I, West Domain of Perion |
| Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 | 26 | West Rocky Mountain III, West Domain of Perion |
West Street Corner of Perion and Perion Street Corner are both right next to town. Once Dark Stumps go down quickly, move on to East Rocky Mountain I or West Domain of Perion. West Domain of Perion also has Green Mushrooms (Level 14) for the end of this range.
Level 15–20
Axe Stumps (Level 17) are your main target here, and the Rocky Mountains have them on almost every map.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Axe Stump | 17 | 371 | 32 | West Rocky Mountain II, East Rocky Mountain II, East Rocky Mountain III, Over the Wall |
| Ghost Stump | 19 | 404 | 35 | Excavation Site I, Excavation Site II |
East Rocky Mountain II and East Rocky Mountain III pair Axe Stumps with Stumps, Red Snails and Dark Stumps. Over the Wall, reached through Land of Wild Boar, has Axe Stumps with a few Dark Axe Stumps mixed in. When you’re close to 20, try Excavation Site I, part of the new Excavation Site that Nexon added to Perion for launch (Grand Launch Release Notes). Reach it through Rocky Road I–III, past East Rocky Mountain I.
Level 20–25
Dark Axe Stumps (Level 23) and the Excavation Site masks are the targets now.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Axe Stump | 23 | 547 | 43 | East Rocky Mountain IV, East Rocky Mountain V, West Rocky Mountain III |
| Wooden Mask | 23 | 462 | 43 | Excavation Site I, Excavation Site II, Excavation Site III |
| Rocky Mask | 24 | 479 | 45 | Excavation Site II, Excavation Site III |
East Rocky Mountain IV and East Rocky Mountain V come right after East Rocky Mountain III. East Rocky Mountain V also has a few Fire Boars (Level 32), so watch for them. If you’d rather stay in one place, Excavation Site II has Wooden Masks, Rocky Masks and Ghost Stumps together. Don’t go past Excavation Site III yet: the Remains maps beyond it start with Level 44 Skeledogs.
Level 25–30
Wild Boars close to town carry you through most of this range, then Fire Boars take you to 30.
| Monster | Level | HP | EXP | Maps it’s found on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Boar | 25 | 510 | 46 | Land of Wild Boar, The Land of Wild Boar II, West Rocky Mountain IV |
| Fire Boar | 32 | 842 | 60 | The Burnt Land I, The Burnt Land II, The Burnt Land III |
Land of Wild Boar is only two maps from Perion, through Perion Street Corner. It also has a few Jr. Boogie 1 and Jr. Boogie 2 (Level 35), so give those room. West Rocky Mountain IV is worth knowing: the Warrior Job Instructor stands there for your 2nd job.
As you near 30, take Deep Valley I out of Perion to The Burnt Land I–III, where Fire Boars (Level 32) and Dark Axe Stumps appear together. Avoid the Dangerous Valley branch for now: it has Copper Drakes (Level 45), and Dangerous Valley II has Red Drakes (Level 60). Also stay out of Parched Land, off East Rocky Mountain V. Stumpy, one of the six bosses Nexon lists for launch, is found there (see the Bosses Guide).
1st-job Warrior skills worth knowing
Your skill book is Warrior Basics. In the skills’ own words:
- Power Strike: “Consumes MP to deliver a lethal blow to a single enemy with your weapon.” Damage 160% at level 1, 260% at level 20.
- Slash Blast: “Consumes HP and MP to attack up to 6 enemies around you with your weapon.” Damage 70% at level 1, 130% at level 20, and it needs level 1 Power Strike. On busy maps like the Excavation Site, this is your crowd skill.
- Improved HP Recovery: HP regenerates every 10 seconds, “not just when standing still,” and HP recovery from items goes up by 20% at level 1, up to 50% at level 15.
- Max HP Increase: Max HP +10% at level 1, up to +25% (needs level 3 Improved HP Recovery).
- Precise Strikes: Accuracy +5 and Critical Rate +1% at level 1, up to Accuracy +20 and Critical Rate +5%.
- Iron Body: Weapon Def. +20% for 300 sec at level 1, up to +40% for 600 sec (needs level 3 Max HP Increase).
Getting ready for 2nd job at level 30
Nexon lists three Warrior 2nd jobs at level 30, all from Dances with Balrog: Fighter, Page and Spearman (Grand Launch Release Notes). Their skill books are Fighter Techniques, Page’s Path and Spearman Techniques.
The questline The Warrior’s Next Journey works like this:
- The Warrior’s Next Journey (level 30, Warrior): talk to Dances with Balrog again.
- Finding the Instructor: take Dances with Balrog’s Letter to the Warrior Job Instructor in West Rocky Mountain IV.
- Test of Qualification: the instructor sends you into a hidden area to collect 30 Dark Marbles. A hidden map called Warrior’s Rocky Mountain has Level 30 Fire Boars and Lupins in it.
- Proof of Qualification: bring The Proof of a Hero back to Dances with Balrog.
Steps 1 and 2 give 4,780 EXP each. If you spent your late 20s on the Fire Boars in The Burnt Land, you’ll already know how they fight.
For more monsters in this range, see monsters by level, 11–20 and 21–30, or the Training Spots by Level guide for the levels after 30.
